Public Trustee CEO swaps his bed for a sleeping bag for Vinnies CEO sleep out

Public Trustee CEO Todd Kennedy will swap the comfort of his bed for a night outdoors tonight, taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise money to support the many Tasmanians experiencing, or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

Mr Kennedy said it was important to understand what so many Tasmanians go through each night.

“Everyone deserves a safe place to call home, but unfortunately that’s not the case for many Tasmanians sleeping rough.

“Today is the winter solstice and it’s going to be a long, cold night.  But what I’m about to do is only a small taste of what those experiencing homelessness have to endure every single night of the year.”

“Unlike those experiencing homelessness, I’m very privileged to be able to make the choice about where I sleep – but having a roof over your head shouldn’t be just a privilege.  We need to work together as a community to find solutions to homelessness.  Unfortunately, it is a complex and challenging area, but hopefully tonight will help a number of CEOs get more of a perspective on the issue.

“I encourage all Tasmanians who are able to assist those less fortunate to do what they can to help break the cycle of homelessness.”
